Intellectual Property Definition- Most businesses rely on bright ideas whether it is a new product, brand and nice designs.

How to protect your ideas from being exploited by others? Trademarks, Copyright, Design rights and pantents these are the 4 ip laws

Trademarks are used by businesses to protect there product ideas. Trademarks can be valuable assets to a business and only has to be renewed every ten years, can only be applied to a name or logo

Copyright automatically exists in documents already such as, maps, documents, plans, photos and websites. A copyright lasts up to 70 years after your life so it's a long term asset.

If people buy your product they will want to know about the design rights. Design rights are registered and free. If it's not registered you will have design rights that are free and you might not know.

Patent can last up to 20 years but registering it can be complicated and is an expensive process but it's beneficial because you can get professional advice.

Human rights act - The right to keep a society fair, just and equal. The act protects and applies to every person and if you feel like your rights have been attacked you can report it, In previous times there wasn't human rights and over the years law has progressed for human rights and equality for example in the last 70 years woman have become able to vote. After WW2 there was a European convention on human rights and said that something like that will never happen again,a simple document granting everyone basic human rights. Puts rights and not rulers at the heart of the society, some of the things included was the right to life, to liberty and security nobody should be deprived of their liberty, freedom of speech in 1998 there was a new UK human right law e.g. public hospitals and education system have to respect the human rights, hospitals would then have to teat all patients with compassion. Journalist are under no obligation to reveal their sources. All soldiers must be given proper equipment and if you are an innocent human there is no obligation for police to keep your DNA. Human rights are part of British heritage and laws.
